QUICK & EASY - MULTI-COMPONENT - SMART MESH
ADD & REMOVE COOLING LINES FROM EXISTING MESH

KENT is one of the most powerful automatic finite element mesh generation tools designed specifically for the casting industry. KENT generates a multi-component (casting, mold, core, chill, etc.) finite element model from simple STL surface files. This method allows foundry engineers to take advantage of the solid models which many shops already generate for their molds and dies. KENT features a new variable density meshing capability.

This allows for substantially smaller models to be generated, which in turn allows for much quicker analysis runs. Near the casting surface, the mold elements are similarly sized to the elements in the casting. This ensures accurate simulation results. In the table below, the mesh sizes are compared, as well as the time required to run a natural solidification analysis on each model, with the relative improvement in the new mesh compared to the old mesh displayed in the last column:

Finite element models, especially those generated by KENT, are the only true way to
simulate your casting processes. Other methods, finite difference for example, create
too much distortion in the geometry which prohibits a reasonably accurate simulation.

No casting CAD A casting CAD with gating and risering is not always exist. Only tooling CAD data are available. In such case, casting egineers have to spend additional money and time to create a CAD for castings, or simple to give up simulation all together. CAP's automatic multi-component mesh generator still can create the simulation mesh inclding castings from tooling CAD.

Clear sleeve edge Depending on CAD, a clear edge on shot sleeve end can't be oblatined. It is particulally true when only tooling CAD are available. In case of using a shot sleeve simulation for HPDC, such clear edge becomes important. CAP's automatic mesh generator would correcte this problem.
