EKK, Inc. Newsletter - Nov/Dec 2002
The 2003 version of CAPCAST's post processing software was recently posted in the software distribution area of our website. We consider this CAPOST a vast improvement over the previous CAPOST, in both user interaction and graphical display of results. Important improvements include: (click on each improvement to view excerpts from the release notes):

CHICAGO -- On XX October 2002, Gerald Backer presented his paper entitled: Computer Modeling of the Semi-Solid Metal Manufacturing Process. Check it out on our website at: http://www.ekkinc.com/software/wrafts/index.html. There are also links to his slideshow presentation.
CAPCAST's fluid flow software can use a moving mesh to analyze fluid flow with a moving boundary such as in a high pressure die casting shot sleeve. This allows for visualization of the interactions between the fluid and the gas trapped in the shot sleeve during compression of the shot tip. It is very easy to see the amount of air that is being mixed with the fluid and forced into the cavity. You can then perform more iterations with varying velocity profiles until the amount of air that is pushed into the cavity is reduced. Click here for an example of such a parametric mesh deformation analysis.
