CAP (or Casting Analysis Program) is a 3-D finite element
analysis program that simulates heat transfer and
solidification. It was concieved with die-casting in mind,
but the code is so robust and flexible that it can be adapted
to any other process by the user. Sand casting, HPDC,
semi-permanent mold, investment, low pressure, squeeze,
and SSM are all processes CAP can simulate with ease.

CAP's specialty is the ability to perform a multi-cyclic analysis.
CAP performs calculations so efficiently that many cycles of a
manufacturing process (10 or more, however many you need)
can be performed within hours. This way you can ensure that
your simulations have reached a steady state condition all
while giving you results in a timely fashion.

CAP results allow you to examine the thermal conditions of
not only the casting, but of the die as well. The solidification
pattern of the casting can be easily visualized. The location
of probable shrinkage defects can be predicted easily with
high accuracy.

CAP results have been verified time and again. CAP
simulation results are compared regularly with thermal
images of the actual die. As you can see to the left, the
comparison is quite close. Contact EKK today and get
the most powerful thermal simulation tool in existence
working for you.
